Call for Papers: Workshop on Home Gardens as a Coping Strategy in Crises and Humanitarian Emergencies

Uncategorized

Tilman Brück will host the workshop titled “Home Gardens as a Coping Strategy in Crises and Humanitarian Emergencies: An International, Interdisciplinary Research Workshop” on 2-3 April 2019 in Bonn, Germany.

The objective of the workshop is to advance our knowledge of home and school gardens, resilience, food security, and related interventions. The workshop aims to deepen our understanding of how informal small-scale home gardening acts as a coping strategy to strengthen the food and nutritional security and resilience of vulnerable households living under extreme uncertainty. In addition, the aim is to learn more about how home and school gardens may have positive effects beyond their immediate outcomes (food security and nutrition), such as on women empowerment.

Organizers: Tilman Brück (IGZ and ISDC), Heinz Peters (Welthungerhilfe) and Martin Petrick (Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen and IAMO).

The deadline for the submission of papers is 22 February 2019. Notifications about decisions taken will be circulated in early March.
